It's called generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and researchers are saying it can stay with a person long after childhood. In fact, evidence indicates GAD can lead to major depression, substance abuse and even suicide attempts. But these extreme outcomes can be avoided by early intervention and treatment, according to a report offered at a recent meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in Boston.
