In a decoction

I use 0.5g raw herbal if it is gancao to harmonize the formula,

else I use 1g 1.5g 2g as the other dosages.

This is what my teacher WuBoPing suggested me (he was a scholar of

QinBoWei).

It works for me and my patients dont complain about 'bitter taste'.

The head of the clinic (where he taught me that) used to prescribe

around 30-40 herbals with a dosage of 10-30g each.

I had the chance to go with different doctors every day, everyone had

his own prescribing technique. So if I hear *this* is the right

dosage I think to myself: I'll continue doing it the chinese way, I

use 0.5g up to 30-50g one day when I reached the age of my teachers.

Sometimes I use 1herbal sometimes I mix several patent medicines

which mix up to 30 herbals. Call me an anarchist :-)

Oh, it was Volker Scheid who 10 years ago said: " we are not even in

the first generation of TCM in western society. "

This is what pops up in my mind when I read any discussions.

Greetings Tay
