The idea of " irritibility " comes to mind as a related term. In other words, if what I am seeing or hearing is irritating me, isn't that the same thing as being hypersensitive to it? Is it possible to be hypersensitive without irritation? If not, then the pathomechanisms for hypersensitivity would be the same as those for irritibility.
