Guest guest
Zev I am still wandering about the so called complex patterns. In clinical practice one often finds mixed syndromes (especially when Dampness and Phlegm are a component) in which Hot and Cold, Deficiency and Excess, Internal and External i.e. Yin and Yang present at the same time. There may be Heat above and Cold below; Cold above and Heat below; Exterior Cold and Interior Heat; and Exterior Heat and Interior Cold. One may also encounter false Heat, false Cold, false Deficiency or false Excess. Many disorders can be transmitted from one system to another (as seen with Five Phases) and result in multiple system involvement. There may be one root disease-mechanism responsible for multiple presentations (branch or presenting symptoms and signs), or there may be multiple roots (disease-mechanisms) each responsible for its own branch symptoms and signs. So what do we really mean by complex syndromes? Alon
