Many tonic herbs have been found to have antioxidant activity. The

following tonic herbs possess antioxidant activity: Ginseng, ginger,

cimicifuga, alisma, polygonum, rehmannia, atractylodes, poria,

polygonatum, ophiopogon, psoralea, cuscuta, Lycium, acanthopanax,

ligustrum, cornus, paeonia moutan, cinnamon, dioscorea, alpinia,

shizandra, codonopsis, jujube, cratagus, allium, citrus reticulate

and pilose antler. Minor Bupleurum formula and saikosaponin d

isolated from bupleurum also have antioxidant effect. " Kidney " -

tonifying herbal formulas not only have antioxidant activities but

also possess immunostimulating activities in their ingredients.

umm...I wanted to write something about po-xue hua-yu li-qi herbals

which have the *opposite* effect of tonifying i.e. destroying

blood+cells, and the school-boy in me says then these must be 'no

antioxidant' herbals but without research this theory is nonsense :-)

maybe this thread will lead you to more information during internet-

research (besides you really can't compare chemotherapeutics with the

complex pattern actions of a chinese formula, try to discuss THAT

with a MD)

Greetings Tay.
