Dear esteemed colleagues.... I'm starting to do some

publicity/advertising for a speciality. Let's say, for example, hep c.

In the middle of making cards, ads. I'm getting the feeling I'm

trolling for people's misery. I really need to jump start my practice

after beeing away and learning this stuff in Beijing. It's hard for me

to balance being tasteful AND assertive of the benefits of my skills.

Any thoughts?

Doug, think of it as the glass which is half empty or half full. You're looking at the half empty view. The "misery" is there no matter what you're doing. Instead, you're offering them a solution, or at least some relief and hope; the glass is also half full.

You might want to consider Honora Lee Wolfe & Marilyn Allen's $100K

Acupuncture Distance Learning program available from Blue Poppy. It

deals with specializing and with marketing and advertising. You can

also check out the companion Website for free:

www.100Kacupuncture.com. There're some marketing tips there.

Good luck & best wishes,

Doug,

The way I'd approach it is an educational pamphlet or lecture series,

to inform the public of the work the Chinese are doing with viral

disorders such as Hep C, and the underlying CM theory to support it.

I'd also advertise yourself as having a specialty in autoimmune and

chronic disorders in CM, and explaining your recent training in such.

Doug:

If you have protocols that are effective and can show significant

results in a reasonable time, there should be no issue of " trolling

for people's misery. " Since word of mouth is the best promotion, one

thing you may want to consider is to offer lectures and possibly a

discount to a Hep C support group or hospital. Doing one or two

would help promote strong word of mouth in this circle. Undoubtedly,

there are many good and inexpensive ideas in books on marketing.
