Guest guest
A student told me that he read in a book about gan mao that the three main criteria for wind-cold are: 1)fever and chills 2)stiff neck or headache 3)floating pulse And that having any 2 of these 3 would make the dx. seems reasonable. It does raise the issue of fever and chills. We have talked about this before (in the context of shaoyang fever). I have had other teachers tell me that in gan mao, some feverish complaint is required to make the dx. Many times my patients present with mild sore throat and no other signs of gan mao or exterior wind. they may or may not have floating pulse. even so, that's usually not enough for me. but add a sudden onset, runny nose, headache and even without fever, then ... Any thoughts? Chinese Herbs " Great spirits have always been violently opposed by mediocre minds " -- Albert Einstein
