In Wiseman and Feng Practical dictionary of the pin yin word for medicinal is:

 

Yao that has as a synonym agent

 

one question why agent?

 

 

when looking up agent in word and using the synonym option the following shows:

And in option thesaurus (a word that I never have contemplated its meaning which is?...) shows the following:

I am well aware that this is merely looking at the word from the English language and not even looking up in a good dictionary (which is not at hand at the moment). Still, the question can someone please elaborate as to why medicinal Yao has as a synonym agent.

In the paragraph that goes on to explain the word yao-medicinal Page 388 the word drug is present. Hence which character and word is translated into drug?

I was under the impression that yao also translates into drug (which at the moment I try to promote as droga natural in Guatemala as opposed to droga sintética.). Is this yet again a question of different characters same pin yin transliteration (and once more embarrassment for the non literate Marco?), or I am mistaking altogether that yao can translate into drug?

The term herb here (i.e. Guatemala) really connotes "popular" which in term both denotes and connotes simplicity but not elegancy(and omits responsibility) i.e.evokes a certain vulgarism which ever way you look at it, also so many people insist on just the term "natural" as opposed to "lo químico - the chemical (thing), implying "safe" and "side effects" in colloquial usage. Thus for the time being have adopted the compound term droga natural - droga sintética to explain that from a western cosmovision which gave rise to western botany and bio-chemistry (at least the possibility of the recognition and development of mention diseplins) recognises natural drug has chemicals too (and indeed a interactive body of complexity is what the chemical aspects of a natural medicinal constitutes). Whilst trying to conveying the historical and actual conceptualisation that Chinese medicine has about medicaments, which in turn I understand for the moment as an agent which stimulates/initiates-maintains a responses in the body Shen1 Shen2:-)

However still not sure why the synonym agent - medicinal - yao

 

Within this I am trying to convey that Chinese medicine has its way of classifying and hence utilising the drogas naturals may potentially be different from just recognising the western cosmovision pertinent to materia medica.

It is always worth asking:

Is any one aware of any investigations studies that actually take this in to account?

What is drastically needed in Guatemala for the promotion and recognition of traditional medicine is "conformation" from within the medical paradigm in question(s) Maya, Chinese... as any outside conformation is not enough to keep the clinical integrity respectively, because the prevalent view is to believe that western science is the answer (when it is only part of a answer...)

And finaly many thanks to Rey Tiquia could not incoperate the info into the talk "body" since it was by then "history":-) but sincerely it was good info and will need to contemplate it more...

All five of these seem to make a lot of sense. What is a

medicinal besides an agent of change. Herbs cause changes

or mediate them or are the force behind them when used

medicinally. This meaning would apply to drugs as well.
