Guest guest
I'm looking for property and contraindication information on jin niu cao or jinniucao (Ardisia). It's not listed in Bensky. I've searched every on-line herbal database I can find and come up empty. The most information I can find is in the Bag of Pearls description for Ardisia 16, which states that jin nui cao is used for qi and blood stagnation, especially in persons suffering from mental distress, and wind-phlegm disorder and has a history of use for opium addiction. I am in an apprenticeship program and the question came up in our group about herbal treatments for smoking cessation. Jin niu cao, along with Chai Hu Jia Long Gu Muli Tang and Zhu Ru Wen Dan Tang, were mentioned as herbal supports. I can find references to the use of Ardisia 16 for smoking cessation in the archives here and in an article on acupuncture.com but nothing specific to jin niu cao. It's also curious that Bob Flaw's article on opoid addiction and TCM (http://chinesemedicalpsychiatry.com/articles/article_heroin.html) doesn't list jin nui cao in any of his formulas. Thanks in advance, Cynthia Ferre cdf1 or cferre

Guest guest
Dear Cynthia, This is Rey Tiquia here. Are you referring to the " Jin niu Cao " as in " Golden Cattle Plant " ? Do you also have the complete latin botanical nomenclature as in ardisia....? My thanks to Todd for his suggestion to followup with itmonline.org. And thanks to Rey. I don't have the Latin botanical information for jin niu cao because I cannot find it anywhere that I've looked so far. Searching on ardisia on google brings up a range of plants. And I don't find it searching on jin niu cao or ardisia on the online herb databases that I've found so far. Cynthia cdf1 or cferre
