Guest guest
Dear List, Been quite not to please the list but because I have been working with health workers hear after promoters de salud (and arguing with various institutionalised bodies). There is a lot of work to be done in a country like Guatemala if one take the "vision" that Chinese medicine can contribute both to public health sector and of course the privet sector which includes non governmental organisations and privets clinics-hospitals etc. Because I been calling the ministry of health at least three times a week they have finally agree to see a outline or a draft plan-suggestion that deals with the topic of Alternative medicine and Complimentary medicine, and Chinese medicine in at the moment classified as "alternative". They have just completed a working document on Guatemalan Indigenous medicine and popular (folkloric), and in this document that have included a sub-section A & C medicine. Now I always "rant and rave" about Chinese medicine and the importance to approach it with sinceridad... So it stroke me that so call Alternative and Complementary what is classified as such (western medicine?, joke:-) What I will try to present is the need to separate medical paradigm as opposed to therapeutic thenic: Ayerveda medical paradigm(S) Colonic irrigation Therapeutic thenic (?) and so forth, Then of course create policies, educational standards, relevant regulation, methods to investigate and so forth with regard to the two main categories and then to each categories within each respective main category. Now the question is any web site that present the topic of regulation and education and so forth with regard to Chinese medicine and other medical paradigms as well as Complimentary & Alternative medicine? Any opinions and or suggestions, bearing in mind that in Guatemala these things are in actuality non existent comparatively speaking and I am of course not speaking about Maya medicine. Any ideas things that the regulatory bodies keep evading, missing out and or forgetting about? I have also been asked to do a small presentation at University called San Carlos. Where they claim interest in starting some sort of a course for the western doctors that are about to graduate. Questions like how long is minimum, and how should one approach such a endover are relevant. They have at the moment made clear that there are no funds available but if something where to materlise then a question like how to find funding for a project initiated by the university? It might be worth while to also ask this...right now... It is far from ideal but it may also be a start... These above "projects" sounds more glossy then they are, but hope fully something will come out of it... Marco
