pediatrics and honey-fried herbs (zhi gan cao, zhi huang qi)

Wondering if anyone avoids using honey-fried preparations of herbs when treating infants due to the fear of botulism spores. Conventional medicine warns of feeding honey prior to one year. Is the preparation enough to kill these spores?

Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.
