> I have not seen this boy as a patient yet. He is 5 years old and appears

healthy, outgoing, and active. The boy has frequent croup and bronchial

infections. His mother tells me that his dentist found rapid tooth decay and he

currently has a boil on his gum which is being

> treated with antibiotics. He experienced a ruptured appendix in his third

year, for which he had an emergency surgery and recovered well. While coming

down the birth canal he had a stroke, and needed to be monitored

cardiopulmonarily in hospital for 2 weeks. He recovered

> well from this, too. His mother is concerned about this latest finding (rapid

tooth decay and gum boil) in the light of his frequent bronchial infections and

wants him to see me for some preventive care. Although from his history one

might expect this child to be on the

> fragile, fearful side, he is a courageous little trooper.

> Anyone out there have suggestions or comments to offer? Although I enjoy

them, I have only a little experience with treating children.

> Thanks,
