dear List,

In fluid pathology there is an interesting note about climate and how it has and is affecting practice, in Knowing practice I think it is mention that north tend to "" to Cold damage school and Zhong Ji was born in the north (?). Whereas in the south they tend to "" to Warm disease. As always there are probably an array of shades. Even the sample Faruquath gives is a interesting combination or rather utilisation (illustration) of the two observational-theoretical-practical constructs (cold damage Warm disease).

Who can ride the dragon? also mentions climate as an influential factor.

Now my question is:

Does any one have any idea which Climate in Asia, within the more establish confineds of East Asian medicine, would be most similar to Guatemala?

Guatemala is in central America and is said to be neo-tropical, however although it is a small country it has quite a difference of climate depending on region within Guatemala and will have to find out more specifically.

With regard to North America Canada, USA, Mexico has any one done a geographical wheatear map comparing it to the map where Chinese-Oriental medicine is practice in Asia?

Australia?

Europe?

I think it would be interesting too consider specially with regard to practice and theory and vice versa as well as research - complexity.

( any one happens to be a geologist-metriologist:-) would be great to here a opinion...

dear Alon,

good question,

apart from looking in to the spatial and temporal aspect of the micro-cosmos in its interconnection with macro-cosmos, one could postulate that there are certain tendencies of bodily climates and its relation to time and space and hence atmospheric ambiance.

Since I am have just realised that knowing Chinese is part of knowing and doing Chinese medicine it will be a while before I can emerge into the realm of "atmospheric ambiance"+. However air conditioning and travelling is an interesting phenomena that possibly could be started to be analysed by various people whom have the know how. Your self and others, an inclusive study is probably more appropriate then an exclusive study (albeit observational one, is still dependent on language+ used)

Still, here in Guatemala air-conditions and travelling is really confined to a certain sector of people and a disproportionaly small part too. Hence the question of similar climate in Guatemala compared with China may possibly "still" have some value to it...the question remian...

I be interested in your opinion on your question:

Dear Alon,

Yet another good question.

If I "knew" I would not keep asking, and you have curios habit of commenting usually in interrogative manner thus expanidng the questions, rather then reducing the spectrum (maybe you where Chinese in your pass life:-).

However it is a good question and only brings more "suspense" to this particular issue at large.

I may be totally wrong in asking and that is way I am asking (not to be repetitive) but any elaborations including on your fare observations?

Hence,is it worth while or rather how can one use the "fact" of similiar climiate in the location one happens to be practicing with reagrd to the climiate of a particuliar reagion in China...

I think so but would like to hear from more knowledgeable voices...

I think the only answer I can give is to be flexible and be questioning. In china i saw many condition that are not that common here in the bay area. Is it climate who knows. I now the water for example was much higher in mineral content and was thought to be the cause of such a high incidence of kidney stones. Many of my teachers stated that they had to use different approaches here than they did in China. The claimed climate was a big factor. If one is to think in this line there are many questions from facial colors, to race and genetics.

Dear Alon,

Thanks...

I been thinking of constitutional "make up" and am aware that Korea (Japan?) has develop such an approach.

Any one know of available information via internet?

Has China and Vietnam also such tendencies "constitutional medicine"?

A good question, and in my experience, a major cause of disease in

modern practice.
