aging and the small intestine

Hi List,

 

I'm trying to track down the quote: "Aging starts in the small intestine."

 

I thought this was interesting when I heard it, wrote it down on a small sheet of paper, with some musings about how it could relate a decrease in nutrient assimilation with the gradual petering out of jing/qi, but forgot to note the source.

 

I heard it when I was in school, possibly in reference to a Japanese theory, but I have asked all of my old instructors and have been unable to turn it up.

 

Any assistance would, as always, be greatly appreciated.
