herbal tablets

Hi, I would like to know what experience people on the list here may have

with herbal tablets from East West Herbs, Three Treasures and Jade Herbals.

The distributor of East West herbal tablets here in Holland claims that the

strength of their latest production series should be calculated with a ratio

of 10/12 : 1 instead of the widely used average 5 : 1 for granules.

I prefer to write my own formulas, use single-herb granules from the

KoDa-factories for them and am very satisfied with the quality, but a few

patients prefer tablets, so I'm looking for the best solution for them.

Would appreciate some advise,

thanks,

Herman Oving, NL

Thanks Alon for the reminder,

I haven't seen an answer and am still interested in opinions on the several

kinds of herbal tablets on the market.

Anybody uses them? What about the dosages cq ratio's to calculate?

greetings

Herman

I have not seen much benefit with low concentration pills. I have occasionally

seen benefit with some of the liquid extracts on the market, but at fairly high

dose (1/4 oz. per day). In my work in the PCOM clinic, I never use anything

but TCM so I do have a pretty clear idea in that setting what is doing what.

Thanks Neil, Bill and Ed for taking up this issue. It is still a bit

confusing. 5:1, 7,5:1, 10-12:1 - you sure have to keep track of all the

different ratio's used/claimed.

What about the East West tablets? anybody knows what ratio to use? if

10-12:1 is right, these are maybe the most cost effective

It would be nice to have a reliable listing of all the products available

with the ratio's to calculate. East West and Three Treasures write dosages

to prescribe on the labels, but I prefer to calculate myself. I don't know

about KPC tablets, 5:1 for tablets and looking at prices is indeed too

costly. sometimes when ordering KODA single herb granules I get KPC instead.

They seem not to differ greatly regarding the quality.

Re: Herbal Tablets Digest Number 1257

Regarding the concentration of herbal tablets, I understand that Giovanni

Maciocia's tablets are now produced by KPC. As their extracts are 5:1, I

was under the assumption that the tablets were as well.

Re: Herbal Tablets Digest Number 1257

I wasn't aware of that. But I notice his products are not listed in the

newest

kan catalog. KPC tabs are 5:1. where did you hear about KPC doing the

formulas now? and I wonder why the switch. BTW, I find 5:1 to be too low a

ratio to deliver cost effective meds. 10:1 minimum to make products almost

as

potent and cheap as raw herbs.

from gio's website

nothing about KPC or concentration ratios, but this sounds just like the

info from the KPC product guide.

The tablets are made from ...etc.

Giovanni's formulas are now made in Taiwan with a 7.5:1 concentration.
