Ken and others,

I will try again to post the characters.. But they are very

simple¡. Wiry (xian2) girdling (dai4) rapid (shuo4) There is also no

passage. Just those 3 characters.

I will post a piece of the translation so one can see the

format. But here are the characters¡

ÏÒ´øÊý

Qi depression

transforming to fire

Red

yellow

Wiry rapid

Phlegm-Qi bind

Phlegm-Qi bind

Thin slimy

Slippery wiry

Qi depression

phlegm-heat

red

yellow

Wiry girdling rapid

ÏÒ´øÊý

(Hope this table came through¡) but notice the wiry rapid

pulse 2 patterns above the girdling. This pulse just contained the basic

xian2 shuo4. ¨C This xian2 shuo4 appears VERY often in this book and even on

this page. (without girdling.) Chip Chace saw the passage and was unsure what

the girdling pulse was, but did not get the impression that it was a conjunction.

I will ask him again when he gets back into town. But I checked,

Bob is right sometimes dai4 is used as a conjunction, but again I do not know

if it really applies here. The interesting thing to ponder is that the

element of phlegm (heat), in comparison to the qi depression ¡§¡è fire, has

warranted the girdling character. Maybe that gives a clue¡

Jason:

Thanks for posting part of the format. In this case, it looks to be

that the pulses are generally wiry and rapid, but with an inflated

quality or girdling in the middle jiao due to the phlegm heat; hence

the dia4.
