Guest guest
Is there a different standard for ratios. For instance there is 5:1 or 10:1 commonly stated. However are those ratios standard as regards _Dry herbs_ or _fresh herbs_ or _herbs saturated_ that have been mixed with solvent or binders - which would change those ratios considerable. What Method of Extraction is used and What Chemicals if any are used in that process? When were the herbs extracted? and How is the Shelf Life calculated? Also no one I know washes off raw herbs before they are cooked or extracted. In China and schools here (Santa Cruz - Oakland - San Francisco) bags of raw herbs are handed to people and given instructions on how to cook the herbs - never told to wash the herbs first. The ratio of water (never any alcohol or chemicals used as solvent) is only general. The struggle seems to be how to produce profit bible herbs that are also affective. But the profitable is the number one concern and too often the effectiveness is " psyched up " and the competition unnecessary. I do not object to the profitability. The more money " they " make the better. They deserve it. I object to the blue sky that is sold. Is there undisputed research that proves that pharmaceutical grade Cong Chi tang (Green Onion Bulb plus Prepared Soybean) for early stage exterior disorder is better than what mom can do from home prepared fresh ? This may not be an exxaration compared to what the chemical/commercial industry has done to St John's Wort and Ma Huang. Thank you for listening. Ed Kasper LAc.
