Guest guest
Dear List I have been reading part of Yi Lin Gai Cuo where Tong Qiao Huo Xue Tang is discussed. There is reference to a skin disease 癜 dian4 which is apparently like vitiligo producing patchy coloration or discoloration. I was wondering what the Wiseman equivalent of this was, I couldn't find it in either of the references I have. Also, in the same section it describes the etiology of the two varieties of this problem; 白癜风 bai dian feng and 紫癜风 zi dian feng, white and purple ??? wind. In the description of the white variety he says it is caused by blood stasis in the skin (血瘀于皮里)using pi(皮) for skin while in the description of the purple variety he says the same thing but uses fu (肤) for skin. (血瘀于肤里) What is the difference between pi and fu? Is fu deeper? Is it moot since he's using the same Rx to treat both? Is it some sort of poetic symmetry achieved by splitting the common two part word? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Par Scott
