I am no expert on Chinese, but I presume that Du Mai or Du refers

to the dorsal modline Vessel, Governing Vessel, and that Dumai Qi

or Duqi refers to the Qi stored in that reservoir.

I have read that the Eight Mai (Ren, Du, Chong, Dai, Yinqiao,

Yangqiao, Yinwei and Yangwei), or Extraordinary Vessels, have no

Qi-Xue circulation per se, but act as Reservoirs for Qi-Xue that

circulates in the 12 Main Channels.

Best regards,
