Guest guest
Dear Master Z'ev: Kowtow! I feel very flattered by your comliments. I hope you will wait until my article comes out in March. It is a little bit complex to explain in an E-mail. I will quote here a part of my article that answers your question. " THE SECOND DOSAN¹S MEDICAL THEORY In the preface of his book, the Fifteen Instructions (Jugo Shinan Hen, 1649), which was published after his death, Gensaku wrote that, ³If you are wedded to one particular theory, your study will not be completed. You should read widely the Yellow Emperor¹s Internal Medicine, and go throughout the materia medicas. We adopt mainly the pulse palpations of the Pulse Classic (Mai Jing) of Wang Shuhe (the third Century A.D.). We follow the recipe dosages of Zhang Zhongjing. Devotedly adopt the prescriptions of Li Dongyuan, but follow Zhang Yuansu, also. To diagnose Sho (patterns), learn from Zhu Danxi, and follow Yi Tianmin, also. We follow Zhang Zhongjing to treat the External Symptoms (Wai Gan), follow Li Dongyuan to treat the Internal Injuries (Nei Shang), follow Liu Wansu to treat the febrile diseases (Re Bing ), and follow Zhu Danxi to treat miscellaneous diseases. If a person gives priority to the books of Zhang Zhongjing, he might diagnose any disease as the Cold Injury (shang han), and probably misdiagnose Internal Injuries (Nei Shang) as External Symptoms (Wai Gan). The person who gives priority to the books of Li Dongyuan might think Stomach Qi as the main cause, and probably misdiagnose External Symptoms (Wai Gan) as Internal Injuries (Nei Shang). The person who gives priority to the books of Liu Wansu might think of fever as the main cause, and probably misdiagnose Cold as Heat. If you do not imitate these people, and follow mainly the Yellow Emperor¹s Internal Medicine, then naturally your knowledge will be vitalized.² Acupuncturist Shinjiro Shinjiro Kanazawa, L.Ac.
