We all know Bob owns BP. I have to point out that Mr. Flaws has provided huge amounts of information in the past and only occasionally announces a product. In any event, it is standard policy to allow a new product announcement one time on many lists such as this. Arguably, announcing a course is a form of information on the topic. The question is thus, " do list members want to know about answers to their questions that are for sale or only want the free information here? " I would suggest that it is a service to announce the sale of proprietary information on a topic. Otherwise, students may be limited to freely available material and thus compromise their patient's care as a result. No one is forced to buy any product, but being aware of it is potentially a service. If I mentioned this course, it would be no problem and be perceived as a service on my part. As long as interests are disclosed, I really see no problem with the creator of the product announcing it. It still serves the same purpose for readers, yet may also enrich the creator. If the creator is the only one aware of the resource, who else will announce it? Nevertheless, I will not dictate on this matter. Nor will I entertain this discussion online. If anyone has an opinion, please send it to me personally and I will make a decision that reflects the consensus. I believe any online discussion about this will be skewed and not reveal an accurate consensus due to power inequities. And if you don't like this decision, also take it up with me in private. It will make two automatic reminders when the event comes due. Making these dates and announcements available would help further discussions in the long run. ? I DO NOT want products or events hawked on the list for the SOLE purpose of enriching the seller. It must be in response to a request for help. HOWEVER, anyone may post their events in the calendar at . BUT you must leave the reminder tab at the bottom of the calendar form set to NONE. If people want to read the calendar, they can go voluntarily. I DO NOT want reminders sent to the group. thank-you.
