Guest guest
Are people still using xi xin or xi xin containing products internally? This herb has been banned by the FDA for at least a year now. It is only legal for sale if toxicity tests show undetectable levels of aristolochic acid in the raw product. Springwind has been unable to identify any samples that meet the FDA standard in some time and thus all their packages of xi xin are labeled for external use only. Since springwind is the most stringent tester of such things, it is unlikely that much, if any, xi xin on the market in either raw or product form meets current FDA standards. as to whether it is truly dangerous is another matter. It is probably dangerous for a small number of sensitive individuals in the low doses used and only for the rest of us in overdose. However the presence of this herb in your pharmacy could lead to seizure of your herbs and patient records if the FDA got wind. If your supplier claims their xi xin is safe, have them prove it or give you a refund. In the meantime, protect yourself by labeling all xi xin products and overstock for external use only.
