Guest guest
Hi Jason, I haven't read all the posts yet, but how about using both? I like to have 10 or 12 herbs in a formula. When using raw grams, I would not use more than 3 grams of chai hu for those with a mixed pattern when yin/blood deficiency is present. He huan hua or He Huan pi are really lovely herbs too. Of course you can.. But personally I am trying to slim down my formulas as much as possible only choosing the best possible ingredients... If one understands herbs thouroughly and somehow groks the essential nature of a herb then one hopefully can be confident and use it without a bunch of others that do similiar things. I have no problem using high doses of chai hu, and do regurlary even with blood/yin xu. but only if the pattern calls for it. -Jason
