Guest guest
Jim, and all, > I mention Manaka earlier because it is in line with what we do. > Unfortunately, Manaka seems to draw little interest now. Manaka's books both in English and Japanese are a long way from forgotten, although, as Jim notes, not much mentioned. In a sense Manaka's theory is a victim of its success because the idea has become so generalized that it is no long " Manaka's " . The essence of his X- Signal theory is that acupuncture operates through transduction. Needling is a signal that mediates a bioelectrical and/or biochemical response that is wbat has become historically associated with the acupoints as their indications. Jim Oschman's work has further substantiated Manaka's idea that the electrically-active fascia is the ground substance of the signal system and all research showing a link between an acupuncture stimulating and brain activity is substantive evidence for Manaka's view. Complexity- based concepts receive a lot of interest now and these assume a signal processing mechanism . although I am not aware of any that refer to it by Manaka's " X-Signal " label.
