Guest guest
Dear Listmembers, I agree with Todd that this current discussion on Qi and energy work should move away from big words like 'cosmology', 'mysticism', 'spirituality' and 'world religious beliefs' and instead concentrate on the " main face of TCM throughout Chinese history " i.e. it's pragmatic nature ; it's 'doing' which Joseph Garner refers to as " My dream of a school .. in which medical theory and practicum stand as one of the several pillars, the others being Qigong and Taichi practice, fengshui, and the ancient arts -calligraphy, painting, archery and music. " And may I include in these 'doable' world of TCM such practices and 'doings' such as bian zheng lun zhi , herbal medicine zhong yao , formula creation fang ji, acumoxa zhen jiu, traditional Chinese massage tuina , traumatology gu shang ke , nurturing life yang sheng , food therapy shi liao [R. Tiquia( l986) Traditional Chinese medicine A Guide to its Practice. SydneyChoice Books ]. In my opinion it is in these 'mundane' daily activities of doing TCM (whether it 'works' or not for ourselves or others ) that we find 'spirituality' in life.
