Guest guest
Simon - You have a point...the parent as part of the delivery system. The formula may also have something to do with it. For instance, the tykes seem to consume bao he wan, bai hu tang, xiao chai hu tang, and huang qi jian zhong tang far more readily than yin qiao san. My daughter also just turned 3 last week and she will take herbs in any form if they are correct. Patent balls are her favorite though. Sometimes she won't take any at all, and an infused bath can be great at those times. Kids often have an intrinsic sense of what is right for them, and forcing TCM treatments could be traumatic. Will Morris Thanks for your post. I disagree about the delivery systems. I see many children and all take crude herb formulas or granules (dissloved in water, whcih doesn't taste much better than crudes). My own 2.5 year old daughter drinks it up like a champ. Feedback from many parents suggests likewise in their kids. So it is more the deal adults are making, not the kid him- or herself. Of course, there are prescriptions that kids won't take or there are some children that won't take the meds. Generally however, it is not so bad like everybody always says it is. The key is small amount many times per day.
