On page 61 of sionneau's dui yao, he says, " uncooked san qi quickens the

blood, dispels stasis and stops bleeding. Steamed san qi nourishes the

blood and is not effective for either quickening the blood or stopping

bleeding. If san qi is cooked by adding it together with other

decocting medicinals, its ability to quicken the blood and stop bleeding

is lost. "
