Guest guest
> yes, interesting... what are we, as doctors, doing here? Last night I heard an interview on the radio from an author, Martín Prechtel, now making the speaker rounds. He has a Native American perspective concentrating on the Mayan. At one point he said that healers in that tradition were to help keep the patient alive but more importantly to maintain the spiritual integrity (my interpretation of his words) of the patient intact. So dying with dignity is the key. Bob, would the word inter-dependent be better here? Bob wrote: Humans are as much an active factor in reality as heaven and earth. To use a Buddhist term, we are all co-dependent. Our actions affect the whole. > my name is Doug and I'm an acupuncturist.

The purpose of traditional medicine isn't necessarily to die with dignity; even WM can do that. I think the key is to stay healthy and productive. But it might explain why there are so few Mayans ;-) Jim
