Guest guest
I have been playing with wenlin 2.6. I thought I had read some where that wenlin could open files of many types of displayed chinese characters, even html webpages. I didn't know if this applied to wenlin 2.6, but I gave it a whirl. 1. open google. 2. select language tools 3. select chinese (simplified) 4. make sure explorer is set to simplified chinese in the character set in the view menu (or change your default preferences if you plan to do this a lot) 5. enter search parameters and you will come up with chinese language pages, many with brief english descriptions 6. Highlight and copy text from a chinese language page and paste it into a new blank wenlin file and presto, you can use wenlin to lookup the characters in the text. I just ordered Wenlin 3.0 from Twinbridge (for $199), and want to try it over the long weekend. Jim Ramholz

What do you think the possibilities are that a Wiseman dictionary for Wenlin can be made available? Jim Ramholz

I addition to the Wiseman dictionary, I’d really like to see Wenlin ported to Windows CE. I just purchased a Dell Pocket PC for $152. With the price of memory these days one could easily fit the entire Wenlin dictionary on a memory card. Another note about the Wenlin dictionary: you can add to it, which means that even if a Wiseman version was never released, we could create our own. I know someone who does a lot of translating and he adds Wiseman terminology to his dictionary file every time he looks up a new word. (I wonder how Nigel feels about his name used as an adjective???) -Tim Sharpe
