Guest guest
Some of my sources suggest that some Huo Xue herbs act as anticoagulants, like warfarin. This is why I queried Sanqi - can it act like warfarin? If so, it might be contraindicated pre-surgery and in patients predisposed to hemorrhage.>>>>Phil the problem is actually deeper than that. Trying to understand possible complication from San Qi or any other herb in a surgical setting is much more difficult then knowing one or two possible pharmacological actions. Further, speculations from TCM functions does nothing to elucidate the safety of an herb in a surgical setting. Only clear pharmacological and clinical study can do this. Some information on the pharm of San Qi is available. We need more, as well as more translated materials before we can professionally recommend most herbs in a surgical setting.
