Guest guest
Dear friends, Reading recent newspaper, I found that a kind of epidemic disease, Monkeypox, is spreading in America. What is the condition in your place? It seems that you didn't pay more attention on how to cure the disease. Has America controlled it? I hope so. God bless you! Guest guest
Hi Sunny, There was a report last week that said the disease only was transmitted to people who were in contact with infected prarie dogs (a prarie dog is a kind of animal we have in the midwest) that were sold as pets from a pet store in Chicago. I don't think there have been many cases, but with the recent SARS outbreak, the media is very sensitive to this kind of news. It doesn't seem like it will be a big deal... I mean, I don't know anyone with a prarie dog for a pet... Guest guest
Perhaps it is worth mentioning that one medical response advised for this pox is to give the patients a smallpox vaccination. Apparently monkeypox is in the same pox family; but I am not yet clear on the reasoning behind giving this vaccine to someone who is already infected. Of course, all the usual smallpox vaccine side effects come into play, on top of the monkeypox illness. More information needed. In Colorado and the southwest, prarie dogs are also known to carry bubonic plague. But there have only been a few problems from it. Guest guest
Hi Geoff, Jim and Pat, I'm really glad to have your information that monkeypox hasn't been spread all over US. But I think you should also be serious about that because it do have a possibility of being epidemic. I heard that smallpox vaccination could have some effects on monkeypox just like Pat said. Yet it have side effects. How about trying some Traditional Chinese Herbs or Medicines? Maybe it would be workable because you would not fear about the side effects. The time when SARS was serious in China, Chinese Government recommended many TCM prescriptions using herbs to people for prevention. It does work, maybe you can have a try. best regards, Sunny - Pat Ethridge Saturday, June 14, 2003 12:27 AMRe: RE: MonkeypoxPerhaps it is worth mentioning that one medical response advised for thispox is to give the patients a smallpox vaccination.
