Guest guest
Hi Ken, Emmanuel, et al, I see GREAT value in TCM Students and professionals having rapid access to the massive CHA Archive via a powerful Boolean Engine on the Crane site. Having read Todd's (and other) response to my concerns, I now withdraw them unreservedly. I apologise for coming late into the Crane-CHA link [i was unaware that this was discussed in the past]. > ... I will have the archive removed until further notice. please don't do that on my account! I was being too cautious. My main fears for the CHA Archives on Crane related to the security of access to the Archives: (a) That Quackbuster-types could infiltrate the Crane site and " mine it " to retrieve CHA discussions, in order to misuse them against those who practise TCM. For example, enemies of TCM could retrieve and highlight OUR OWN discussions relating to lack of standardistion in basic training, nomenclature, poor quality-control of herbs, lack of clear agreement on dosage of herbs, etc, etc. Also, many CHAers believe in/know the importance of Yi [Directed Intention], prayer, telepathy, or other " paranormal " phenomena in healing, and the crucial role of the Psyche AND Spirit in the disease process (and its correction). Those of us who have discussed (or may wish to discuss in future) those topics in CHA (believeing that the discussion is confined to sympathetic peers) might be upset if such confidential ideas were to " leak abroad " to a Public unsympathetic or antagonistic to such ideas. and (b) That spammers could access our email addresses for their own commercial purposes. I am now satisfied that my concerns have been addressed in so far as is practical. go for it. I applaud your initiative and wish it great success. It is very healthy to have public debate. quackbuster types will always try to take stuff out of contexts and we cant conduct discussion with fear.
