Does anybody want to do it? I don't consider myself in a position to determine any of this beyond a gut feeling that things could be better than they are, or at least were in my case. I realize most everybody is very busy and producing the information that they think is important right now, but some reflective thought in terms of basics is always a good thing. Right? Consider it a character building experience. I'd be happy to work on this with anybody who is interested, if only to bring myself up to a standard I felt reflected the level of a masters degree, let alone a PhD. Anyway, as I recall what you said, I think I agree with all of it and am very impressed with your undergraduate program. I would love to be part of some committee to upgrade teaching nationwide, if anyone would let me. I hope we could keep inter-CM politics and egos out of it as much as possible and focus on, as Sharon W. would say, "what we know." Bob Flaws, for one, is always harping about how it is mastery of the basics which makes masters, not learning tricks and "advanced" skills. The football team that wins the Super Bowl is always the one that blocks and tackles the best, never the one that knows the most razzle-dazzle plays.
