Guest guest
Dear friends, The discussion as to how qi manifests itself is one that I would like to reflect on with you. I believe that if we are involved in activities that encourage us to better be in touch with our own bodies, such as practicing taiji or qi gong, and those of our patients, complementing out treatments with tui na, then we become sensitized and increasingly aware of the subtle energetic flow of qi, and acutely aware when one's qi is blocked. As a personal aside, I am also a practitioner and student of CranioSacral therapy and SomatoEmotional release. I find a clear and direct correlation between the sensations of therapeutic pulse, and the heat that preceeds myofacial, energy cyst and trauma releases and the sensation of de qi when needling. Also, interestingly, I find that unlike other people I have spoken to who are involved in energy work, when I give CranioSacral treatments and when I needle with intention, rather than feeling tired afterwards, I feel invigorated! It is because of my experiences, that I always make sure to feel the qi at the point that I needle, rather than just mechanically placing the needles where the texts say that they are supposed to go (of course in close proximity and along the meridian). Forgive my longwindedness, but I feel that it is important to validate the energetic significance of qi.
