yesterday i was approached by a prospective pt who has

multiple cysts on her liver. one is approximately the size of an

orange, judging from the size of the circle she made with her

hands. one cyst is over half that big, and she has smaller cysts

that are continuing to grow. i wondered if transplant had been

alluded to or suggested as a future option, but did not want

scare a prospective patient with such a question, since she did

not bring that up.

she asked if acupuncture could help. i said yes [of course], that

acupuncture could inhibit the process at hand, and also raise

her general health to enable her body would be better able to

combat this process. i also said that taking herbal medicine

long-term would might be helpful, and would do some

consulting in this regard.

has anyone here treated polycystic liver disease? i need some tx

ideas, especially herbal formulae. obviously, resolving phlegm

and focusing that effect on the liver will be involved, along with

appropriate constitutional components. i do wish i had asked to

take her pulses before i left. i will see her again in a few days,

but i really want to start thinking about this before then.

i am most inclined to start acupuncture first, then add herbs and

modify them over time. right now i generally stick to patents,

most Mayway - i hope this does not offend any full-time

herbalists.
