for a long time, if ever. Sure you could make a lot more if you

could see 3/hour in private, but again most people don't. 40 per

hour is $80 grand per year fulltime, BTW. Would people work for this

wage? I think a lot of folks would prefer this to running a

business. If you worked for Kaiser at this rate and had full

benefits for your family, you would be making the equivalent of 100

grand with the cost of health insurance factored in. >>>

Does anyone know the frequency of these kinds of job opportunity

inside or outside of California?

Just catching up with the hundreds of email messages after being away

for a few days. This list is hard work.

As a practitioner who also teaches, my answer to this at present is

that it might be a good thing if some of the schools closed. I

believe we're at a stage in the development of our profession when we

need higher standards much more than we need more practitioners.

Some, if not many, of our schools are simply money mills for their

owners, who don't give a hoot about educational or professional

standards. ACAOM is, IMO, doing an unreliable job of holding the

schools accountable for maintaining educational and institutional

standards, and schools are being re-accredited that should not be.

I think there are better ways to deal with this issue, but if the

entry DAOM helps us clean house, then perhaps that can be seen as an

additional benefit.

I suppose my answer suggests that my bias is weighted as a

practitioner. But surely this has to be so. The job of the schools is

ultimately to serve the profession by graduating well trained new

practitioners. If they don't do so, they serve no good purpose.
