Agree,

Patient canter is an interesting premise and the one to go.

How are you?

I wonder can we start a dialogue about possible co-operation here in

Guatemala City?

Of list if you like.

I am still in zone 18 we as part of the class we are doing basic meditation

and basic qi gong as well as emphasising self massage.

The first principle of the class apart form aiming to convey Chinese medical

practices bases as much as possible on The Chinese medicine phenomena, is

what can the patients do in there spear time?

The hospital is okay, really ought to be there every day set up permitting.

The " type " of patients I see there are:

Rehabilitation - due to shoot wounds and accidents as well as (although have

not really treated any yet) disabled children.

Old age people whom are severely disable and with open skin ulcers.

And in the out patient department an mixture of emotional to very

" structural " . On one in ward post surgery there is a young girl whom have

tried to take her life five times whom now is being treated with Chinese

medicine (although we do not have access to Chinese materia medica, and I am

slowly trying to understand the local materia medica (more about that in a

future letter).

The parents will probably buy moxa otherwise needles and moxa as well as

other Chinese medicine utilities are scares indeed.

On Wednesday morning do some qi gong at the hospital and have started to

some meditation with patients whom are surprisingly keen on doing

meditation - always try to develop self massage and " self " help.

Treat from home supposedly privet practice but often end up not charging

because here it is difficult to charge people whom only earns 300-900

quitzales a month within the capital (or nothing!). Of course I have some

patients that can pay (usually the very rich try not to pay strange

phenomena indeed?)

One " dream " is to be able to attend patient at least five times a week with

out worrying whether they can afford it or not and of course always in a

public and / or community orientated sense.

I will probably start a class of Chinese medicine again maybe with a

Colombian person, had one previously but did not work out they did not want

to study and I had no previous experience in conveying Chinese medicine.

Anyway this time round have planted the objectives on written paper and will

insist that no one can practice before their fare share of community

orientated practice.

Something that would be very good to develop in Guatemala would be Tui nai

(as a general term and specific).

Japanese acumoxa, various Korean and Vietnamese styles as well as Taiwanese

and Chinese streams (to borrow volkers term of " schools " ) and of course

further and deeper understanding of all aspects of Chinese medicine

including language learning.

Hence one way of cooperation could be educational one apart from other

aspects.

I believe that developing a profession here is the way to go but would like

to hear what your experience is and so forth...

Hope to hear from you...

Marco

Ps. My supervisor at the hospital is a western medical doctor whom more or

less tries all the time not to treat with synthetic drugs and is so patient

center that she actually lives in poverty. For GUMAP I think she would be a

great spirited contact, She is one of the most advance practitioners I have

seen, and hope to be able to emulate her heartness with regard to practicing

Chinese medicine.

Pss. (to anyone reading this) I have said it before and will again:

Guatemala is a great place as a short term " tourist " and if your profession

is Chinese medicine just visiting us would be a great help...

We are always appreciative of any Chinese medicine books that can be donated

Which I must again thank paradigm And James Ramholz...

Psss...

The oterday I heard a nun re-laying what happen in Rabinal I cry but it one

more reason that I believe emotionally Chinese medicine can do so much not

just here in Guatemala...

It was about a woman who could not found her dead child by the traitors

state army and in a dream she could and the child was thanking her and now

they could " rest " , this is something common and I always need to apologise

when at times I send emotionally strange letters mainly to CHA. Thus hope

you will overlook such anomalies of letters...
