Guest guest
single herb questions- Group-I could not find enough information in Bensky for the following: Hong zao vs Da Zao Does hong zao tonify blood more, while da zao tonifies qi more? Chaun niu xi vs Huai niu xi: the uses seem similar in the textbook, yet I remember one Chinese professor saying he only uses one, never the other. Do most formulas that mention niu xi refer to huai niu xi? Fu xiao mai vs xioa mai: I was just reading Bob's Psychiatry book, and he stated that Fu xioa mai was better for astringing, but to calm the spirit Xiao mai should be used. I see that Mintong lists this as Xiao Mao (Huai). Any comments on this? I do not remember a distinction being taught in school. As to Elliot Cowan, my plants would be spiderworts and red sage (not Dan Shen), as they colonize where I live. But I'm glad to get to more practical matters. Salvia sp.
