Hi all,

This is a forwarded message from a Western MD from the Philippines who

came to Hangzhou for a course in acupuncture. She is using it

mainly/only for patients in a weight-loss program back home. She was

referred to me due to questions concerning TCM and nutrition. I asked

her some questions about her knowledge of basic TCM theory.

-->>Hi Daniel! About the Zhang and Fu theories, I studied them in

China for 2 months with clinical practicum. It's true diet place a big

role in weight loss.Actually, my problem is on my acupuncture

technique. It goes like this:

Patient 1: 26y/o, F, Married with 4 kids, physical examination showed

flabby abdomen with many stretch marks. She sought consultation to

remove the fats in her belly. Start doing acupuncture with application

of electric waves ( adjustable according to her tolerability) 3 times

in week each session lasted for 30mins. Every session the intensity of

the electric waves gradually increases that is how it goes to my

patients. If they feel the intensity lessens I increase it.

What I noticed, once the rate reached 5and above (intensity) the said

acupoints developed burned marks after I removed the needles. Does

this normally happened to patients who underwent weight loss. I know

the marks will disappear but it will take months.<<--

Any suggestions/answers to her questions? Also, anybody interested in

a long-term coaching relationship with her? She mentioned her mentors

at the Hangzhou Hospital do not know how to use a computer.

Thanks,

Daniel C. Luthi
