Guest guest
Al, No offense but you are " not very well versed in Western herbs " by your own admission. This does not fit into the criteria I put forth. " trained in both Western and Chinese herbology " . And you worked on the book (even just in the graphics) so you opinions are somewhat biased. I am very happy you have found use for them. I'm sure others have also found use for them. Statements made by myself (and Z'ev, if I may speak for him here) are merely critical thinking based on our experience and training in Western herbology and Chinese medicine. I am not out to bash Peter Holmes. He's a good guy and did a heck of a lot of research and work on those books. The first sections of the first book, before the materia medica, is great (frankly I think that part should have been published alone) but the materia medica leaves a lot to be desired. When you put work out there it will be criticized, there will be controversy and I think most authors will accept that and defend it where they find it necessary. On that note I will let my own work stand on its merits. I truly believe it will be an important contribution to the field. If you don't like it, let me know, or not. My father always used to say of opinions, " like assholes everyone's got one " and that is what makes this type of forum important. Thank you all for your opinions, especially those critical ones of Todd and Jason.
