People come to CM school to get licensed, so they do what they are told they must do to be licensed. Since that is largely to demonstrate that they have learned the conceptions offered by a small set of texts that reflect a particular view, most graduates appear to be entirely unware of anything else. bob bob Paradigm Publications www.paradigm-pubs.com P.O. However, I wouldn't put this result entirely, or even mostly, down to circumstance. I'd put it down largely to lack of curiosity, or perhaps mental energy, on the part of a large percentage of those going through school. For example, there are programs out there that offer considerably more breadth and depth than others, yet the majority of students deliberately avoid these schools and choose the less demanding programs, even when they are situated in the same square mile. Furthermore, how many practitioners take the trouble to seek further training, or follow a senior practitioner in their early years of practice? How many have a journal subscriptions? How many read the available books of good quality that describe the history of Chinese medicine in some detail? (you should know the answer to that one!) These are all choices that can be made by individuals, and it's no secret that these things are available. Rory --
