Guest guest
Hi All, & Hi Z'ev, My herb notes [from WWW] list the following as having oestrogenic effects: Fupenzi, Gancao, Gouqizi, Guijiu (Hongjingtian), Xiangfu. Though Danggui is NOT a source of exogenous oestrogen it is said to increase utilization of ENDOGENOUS oestrogens. These are said to have androgenic/anabolic/testosterone-boosting effects: Baijili, Bajitian, Baqian, Danggui, Guijiu/Hongjingtian, Juchizonglan, Tufuling; also Ashwagandha, Beta-Sitosterol & related Sterols (In Rhodiola, Alfalfa & Other Plants), Damiana Fm, Muira-Puama Cx-Rx, Soyabean, Suma, Wild Oats w Nettle Rx, Wild Yam Rx/Mexican Yam. Herbalists could have a tough case to answer if lawyers highlight their use of herbs with known or suspect oestrogenic effects in patients with oestrogen-sensitive conditions if adverse effects, or clinical deterioration, were to occur. The same could apply to herbs with androgenic/anabolic effects in patients with testosterone- sensitive conditions. Z’ev’ wrote that if a herb/formula really match a carefully Dxed Pattern, it should be safe in cancer. However, is OPINION [even expert opinion] on that issue sufficient? No offence intended, Z'ev. But I could see this issue being a aoft- target for Quackbuster-types who want to destroy herbal medicine. We should be reasonably sure of our ground on this issue. Comments?
