Guest guest
I just updated my copy, I like this version even better. A friend from china just sent me one of those CD rom collections of ancient classics (list of about 700 in booklet), but it is some sort of proprietary reader which only allows for printing. She says it only cost about $50. My question is, does anyone know how to get this sort of thing into wenlin more or less directly, as opposed to typing hell. Also, you can only use it on one system, it has a registration process that does something in your registers, which is a pain. Any hackers on this list? I'd like to install it but I'm going to change computers within the next month... If anybody else is interested I think she may be able to get some more. They are published in a traditional character version and a simplified version, but seeing as you can convert text you might as well get the traditional one. If anyone is interested I'll make a PDF of the list of books. Par
Guest guest
Hi Par I don't know if just copy-paste is an option that works, but otherwise think of the following detour. I am not sure if it works because chinese characters have a special coding and I don't know for sure if this coding is preserved by this detour, but you could give it a try: 1. install a PDF-document maker which acts like a printer, like PDFCreator (freeware). You then just print to PDFCreator which captures the output and puts it in a PDF-file. 2. open the file with Acrobat Reader and use textcopy to copy the text. 3. paste it in Wenlin (I assume that Wenlin allows you to paste text). This is what I do using western texts. Par If it prints clearly, you may be able to scan it to digital form usinf a Chinese OCR [Optical Character Reader] Scanner. Once in digital form, you can pass it to Wenlin. Have any of you managed to use Wenlin as an automatic translator? Or, like me, do you use it character by character?
