Guest guest
Yehuda, Of course, one needs to make a specific diagnosis, but the first thing that comes to mind in the abstract would be a KID Jing supplementing formula. So essence and yang tonics may be called for. however, I would always recommend the bulk of ones methods should be zang-fu tx based upon presenting signs and sx. i.e. be careful about yang tonification if heat signs present instead. Guest guest
You might also try zinc supplementation. Oral zinc replacement has normalized growth hormone levels and increased growth rate in teenagers found to be GH-deficient, (ref. below). Collipp PJ, Castro-magana M, Petrovic M et al. Zinc deficiency improvement in growth and growth hormone levels with oral zinc therapy. Ann Nutr Metab 1982: 26:287-290 Any herbs that fit the CM pattern for this patient that also happen to be high in zinc? I do not have references for this kind of info. Good Luck, Sean yehuda l frischman [] Friday, October 10, 2003 5:14 AM Stimulating growth in an adolescent Dear Friends, I need some guidance on treating a 14 year old boy, who at age 11 was found to have acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He is in complete remission for 1 year, and wbc & rbc levels are normal. The problem is that apparently either the cancer or the chemo has impacted his production or release of human growth hormone, and he is significantly shorter than his peers. Any ideas? Yehuda PS. The family is against HGH therapy, though we are exploring the possibility of stimulating HGH production by supplementing 500 mg arginine tid. ______________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
