Guest guest
Dear Ken, Rory and All, The book I recommend to my students and others with a newly discovered interest in CM is one that was a required beginning text for Nam Singh's South Star Cooking Academy. The book is " The Simple Path to Health " by Kim Le, PhD. That last I knew of her, she practiced in Colorado and was not embarrassed at all by having written this book. She offers recipes in her book. Yum! I love people who have their priorities straight and actually suggest food as a simple path to health. Her second chapter is subtitled A View of the Body. Mmmm. Did this topic come up here on CHA? While many people focus on herbs and acupuncture as the basis of how they make their living in CM (me, too ... I sell herbs), I believe that this book has a good deal of CM " cultural substrate " (a la Ken). I also think it's helpful to apply your acupuncture and herbal formulas to people who are otherwise making an effort to balance their lives. This book, I believe, would help with that. Respectfully, Emmanuel Segmen And as for how you talk with your patients, again, I see this entirely as an individual matter for individual practitioners to work out for themselves and with their patients. Communication is funny that way; it has to be accountable to those who are actually engaged in it. I'm all for books and I'm all for people recommending and reading books.
