Guest guest
Marnae, Cara and other interested herbalists, Marnae, do you really think there is enough interest in the CM world to warrant such a publication? If you think so I will seriously consider it! When diluting alcohol for making liquid extracts one should use distilled water, some people like to use spring water, which is fine as long as you KNOW it is clean. although you are more or less correct in your " off the top of your head math " (my quotes) I would recommend some simple algebra to get to the specific number. Although slight (or even large) variations will occur when making extracts, it is best to eliminate as many as you can. To clarify, each batch of herbs you use to make extracts will be slightly or largely different in one way or another. Since this is not really controllable, unless you have an analytical lab at you disposal, it is best to control what you can. I find it very important to do my best to be as consistent as possible when preparing medicines for clinical use. It has paid off for my patients. I make all my own extracts and external medicines, rarely using proprietary products, because I love the work but also because I feel I can make medicines that work better clinically than the ones I can purchase. That is not to say that many of the companies out there are not making good products, but it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make them that great when making such large batches. thomas > Message: 16 > Tue, 28 Oct 2003 10:27:15 -0500 > Marnae Ergil <marnae > Re: Alcohol > > Thomas - > > Please do!
