arimidex interactions?

All,

I have a patient who is about to initiate post-chemo treatment with

arimidex (aromatase inhibitor, blocks estrogen synthesis). She has

been taking herbs from a previous practitioner, and now wants to get

tx with me. My questions:

1) any specific problems with combining herbs and estrogen blockers?

2) have there been any consensus conclusions regarding possibility

of phytoestrogens causing regrowth of breast or other ca?

thanks for your consideration

adding to my own post, i did look at the archives re lack of

consensus on herbs and regrowth of cancer, more specifically i'm

concerned that tonics et al may interfere with the estrogen

blockers, specifically aromatase.... she's concerned about some of

the medicials she's still taking, for example ziheche. i have seen

subhuti's article re this and IIRC subhuti's only suggestion was

CoQ10. i'm wondering if some general fuzheng-type tonics eg

ganoderma or cordyceps might be useful. again i'd appreciate any

thoughts on this.

thanks,

rh

Here is a study from Dr. Eliaz website on phytoestrogens and

endometrial cancer that may be helpful:

Robert:

Interesting question. If I may, I would like to add a rider: " Can

Robert's question even be answered without resort to biochemical

medicine? "
