or you could ask if he could set aside a specific week to respond to

emails from the group, rather than having to be an ongoing member.

Good idea, if PU didn't want to participate in a full discussion

group. Another possibility, even less of a commitment for PU, would be

for one of us (Ken?) to write Unschuld an email with a number of

questions that had been agreed upon in this forum.

I would still favour the option of a discussion with multiple

interactions instead of a single question/answer interaction.

Nothing was decided. In my conversations

with Paul, the subject never came up. I don't

think he envisions devoting any great amount

of his time. But then he wrote an entire book

'what is medicine? " because of a dispute he

had with Gabriel Stux a couple of years ago.

So we'll just have to see what happens. If it

were to become something to which he needed

or wanted to devote substantial amounts of

his professional time, I guess we'd have to

come to terms with that.

Interesting idea really.

No one wants to divert the issues; least of all me. Moving it to the

Redwing server doesn't stifle discussion. It actually enhances them

when Chinese characters can be included. And this would revive the

translation forum which seems to have lost interest and audience.

But so far the discussion has been 'what someone else says about

what Paul says'. Second-hand is fine, but I would like to hear

Paul's own words and in their own context; not something

predigested. Someone should, at least for the time being, add the

handouts or their notes to the Files section---that would help

immensely. The more info, the better.

I am eagerly waiting for the video or audio tape to become available.

I have fairly extensive notes. I am going to edit them, then pass them

on to Paul for his approval, and then, with his permission, post them

or submit it as an article or review for publication.

Jim,

Thanks for clarifying this. I get it.

Seems like Z'ev has attended to your request

for the tapes, etc. and will supply his notes.

We'll take up the details on the new forum at

Redwing and see how it goes. I was just trying

to make sure that there wasn't a move afoot to

bifurcate the topics that constitute the substance

of what goes on here at CHA, lest it fall into

disrepair.

How could it " fall into disrepair " ? It doesn't change people's

choice to participate. It only moves it to a venue that specializes

in the topic without competing for attention with other subjects and

better supports the flow of information by supporting Chinese

characters.
