Do you think that chinese medicine is consumer driven? I've never seen one

advertisement about chinese medicine on television, but excuse me Viagra,

Celebrex, " the purple pill " ; the list is endless. As I understand it, the

pharmaceutical companies put more into advertisement than they do R and D. This

raises an interesting question; that the billions of dollars spent on

advertising for pharmaceutical companies to push their drugs onto the market I

would assume that this is one of their equations for success. I think the

leading cause of death in America from pharmaceutical drugs is quite high. But

profits for these drug companies have never been higher. Consumer driven

medicine is much different than commercial driven. The price of a pound of

Huang Qi and a pound of Viagra may cost similar to produce but look at the

difference in profit margin. If we were to look at the concept of being in the

elite class of medical providers only offering our services to those who can

afford it, this concept is probably true. 70% of Americans in a family of four

earn less than $40K a year. But, much of our income spent in America is spent

on impulse buys, toys, etc... I believe that chinese medicine falls under the

blueprints of a new paradym that is parallel to natural foods, ecology,

recycling, and quality of life issues. My generation, baby boomers, are

creating this paradym from being a witness to the waste, destruction, and

disregard for our bodies and our environment. The $40K a year average income,

if managed correctly, can include chinese medicine with or without insurance.

But in order for this to happen, chinese medicine is like at the tip of the

iceberg. There are so many things that need to be changed. I don't see us

isolated as a profession, but parallel to a whole movement that is gradually

gaining momentum.

Have Faith.
