Guest guest
The issue of Alon's comment has swollen out of its original context. I appreciate Z'ev's remarks and his ability to solicit an apology efficiently, with dignity and restraint. I was not actually offended by Alon's comment, mostly because I grazed by it without much contemplation. I was, however, offended by Ken's detailed reply and repeated mentioning of the subject in subsequent posts. On a positive note, I want to thank Julie, Brian, Jason, Doug and others who hosted a lively exchange this weekend regarding terms in standard texts. I kept tuning in to see what the next posts would bring. The spirit of discussion was both practical and friendly and I could hear the pages of their texts rustling. I guess I must truly be an herb geek. Happy state. --Laurie Burton PS: I would not compare Alon's style to Hemingway - brevity alone is not sufficient to make this literary comparison. Rather, I'd compare his style to e.e. cummings (example below - way off topic). I enjoy Alon's style of posting - he often guides me very quickly to key points of other posts I had originally scanned but missed. ------------------------------ since feeling is first who pays any attention to the syntax of things will never wholly kiss you; wholly to be a fool while Spring is in the world my blood approves, and kisses are a better fate than wisdom lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry ---the best gesture of my brain is less than your eyelids' flutter which says we are for each other: then laugh, leaning back in my arms for life's not a paragraph And death i think is no parenthesis --e.e. cummings a selection of poems
